One of our KnockOuts, Sarah V., wanted to share her story with you - she hopes it will help others struggling with similar issues.

Through my high school years, I was an athlete and ate WHATEVER I wanted.  My senior year, something changed...I began to think that I was fat.  I became obsessed with food by counting calories and fat and feeling guilty anytime I ate.  I convinced myself that if I just ate corn flakes, lettuce, and Dr Pepper that I would lose weight and be the "perfect" skinny weight.  Not so much!  I found that because I was always hungry, I was always irritable, tired, and my looks actually started deteriorating from malnutrition.  My hair and skin was dull....I just looked unhealthy. The lunch ladies at school used to make fun of me and tell me "Girl, You need to eat meat"...I would just laugh it off but in reality they were right. After a year, I found that eating healthy foods like lots of fruits, veggies, lean meats and occasionally indulging was tasty, healthy, and surprisingly FUN!  I have continued to be careful what I eat but not obsess about it.  I also found my passion for running, yoga, and boxing are a great way to keep fit.  Sure I have a few days that I wish my jeans fit a little looser or wish I had leaner legs but overall I am happy with my body and continue to keep it healthy.
